As the session leader and a high school student, I hope to hold a meaningful conversation directed by curated questions while leaving room for open discussion.

Activism Through Storytelling
Saturday March 8, 2025 10:50am - 11:50am PST
Chessy will lead a workshop on film and media as activism. She will share her short film debut, AFTERMATH, which debuted at the Athena film Festival. "The issues I try to tackle in the short film (sexual assault, consent, mental health, PTSD) are all hot button topics that deserve to be fleshed out beyond the "after school special" or true crime, exploitive genre through which these stories are often told I wanted to do justice to the complex feelings, visual paranoia, and intimate moments survivors can experience in the aftermath of assault; with AFTERMATH, I want to explore the human behind the trauma and the aftermath of a headline."

Creating Safety Together: Using Harm Reduction Strategies to Navigate the Intersections of Substance Use and Sexual Violence Prevention
Saturday March 8, 2025 10:50am - 11:50am PST
Here are some things we know to be true. Some young people may engage in the use of alcohol and drugs and some young people may engage in a variety of sexual and intimate touch. We also know that the combination of those two can lead to situations that may feel unsafe, emotionally complicated, and ultimately lead to harm and violence. Harm Reduction, a philosophy, and a range of intentional practices to navigate the social and physical consequences of behaviors deemed risky, allows us a lens to have honest and nuanced conversations about how we build our own safety. In this workshop, we will explore the philosophies of Harm Reduction, the impacts of substance use on consent practices, and finally, learn and apply a harm reduction tool to relevant case studies.

Don't Push Back The Line: It's Our Right to Set the Boundary
Saturday March 8, 2025 10:50am - 11:50am PST
We’ve created this workshop to provide students, parents, and professionals with the knowledge and skills for setting personal boundaries, voicing harmful behavior, and bringing awareness to sexual misconduct. When we have the knowledge, awareness, and preventive measures provided in the right place, we leave space for people to ACT. This workshop aims to teach adults and children how to set their own boundaries, intervene for themselves or others safely, and how to bring awareness to sexual violence and prevention at school and at home.

In this presentation, the three main objectives are: • Teach how to recognize sexual misconduct and who are the common violators. • Give specific examples and provide ways to intervene safely. Know who to get involved. • Provide guidance on how to create change in a silent space that does not promote incest prevention strategies.

Together We Will Bridge the Incest Gap: A Dreaming & Design Workshop
Saturday March 8, 2025 10:50am - 11:50am PST
Listen to author and activist Josephine A. Lauren of Incest AWARE share their story to inform participants about The Incest Gap: The vulnerability of children to sexual abuse by family members, the isolation of survivors and families through healing, as well as the ineffective criminal legal models that allow people who harm to reoffend. Then reimagine and redesign social and systemic solutions to improve methods of incest prevention, intervention, recovery, and justice. Together we will dream about how to protect children, support survivors and families, and transform people who harm to create safer communities.

Trauma-Informed Healthcare with a Doula
Saturday March 8, 2025 10:50am - 11:50am PST
Trauma and trauma-related health conditions unfortunately are common during pregnancy, labor and birth but most people don’t know how a trained and experienced doula can make a difference to offer parents a better and less traumatic experience.

It is important to understand the impact of trauma on pregnancy, labor and birth, including possible ways to recovery; then recognize signs and symptoms of trauma; on this situations doulas should be ready to respond by integrating evidence and sensitivity into their practice. Trauma-informed doula care center on these principles: safety; trustworthiness and transparency; peer support with other survivors; collaboration and mutuality; resilience, empowerment, voice, and choice; social, cultural, and historical considerations. Ideally universal trauma-informed doula care should be a standard of practice and offered to all clients, including trauma-targeted care that can be offered specifically to clients who are identified as trauma survivors, and connect them to trauma specialist services.
