The Silencing of Youth: Consent, Custody, and Court
Saturday March 8, 2025 12:40pm - 1:40pm PST
In Washington, teens are empowered to drive cars, get jobs, and seek confidential healthcare all without the oversight of a parent or guardian. In Family Court however, anyone under 18 is muzzled by a justice system that bans youth from testifying, or even attending court hearings. In this workshop, we will explore the relationship between consent and youth voice; and delve into how youth experiences are not just sidelined but silenced in custody and domestic violence hearings, while the arguments of parents and "experts" are prioritized. Our exploration will be interactive and grounded by case studies of real families who are fighting for safety and justice through our Family Courts. Through lively discussion and activities, we will imagine possibilities for reform and action together.

Behind the Scenes: Helping Your Kids Make Sense of Porn, Consent, and Sex
Saturday March 8, 2025 1:50pm - 2:50pm PST
Pornography is shaping the way children understand and relate to themselves, their peers, and sexuality.

Most mainstream pornography fails to accurately portray consent conversations, boundary setting, risk management, and sexual health protocol.

Join other parents to learn how to start conversations with your kids about pornography so they can develop an understanding of sexuality based on joy, care, and responsibility. Leave class with a list of the best online resources to share with your kids to strengthen the conversations at home.
