Chessy will lead a workshop on film and media as activism. She will share her short film debut, AFTERMATH, which debuted at the Athena film Festival. "The issues I try to tackle in the short film (sexual assault, consent, mental health, PTSD) are all hot button topics that deserve to be fleshed out beyond the "after school special" or true crime, exploitive genre through which these stories are often told I wanted to do justice to the complex feelings, visual paranoia, and intimate moments survivors can experience in the aftermath of assault; with AFTERMATH, I want to explore the human behind the trauma and the aftermath of a headline."

In this workshop, students will learn embodied consent practices and skills and translate those learnings into a one-page mini zine.  This workshop will blend anti-violence teachings rooted in consent, boundaries and bodily autonomy skill building while incorporating visual art through mini zine making.
