This session is most relevant for male-identifying attendees and adults who support young men.  In this session, we will reflect on and discuss the explicit and implicit lessons we are taught as men, and discuss their connection to consent and related themes.

The "Quit Clicking Kids" workshop is designed to raise awareness about the dangers of sharing sensitive information online and is aimed specifically at parents and educators. The workshop will include background information about what it means to be featured on a monetized family social media account, then will segue to actual instances of real-world harm that these accounts bring. From Myka Stauffer to Ruby Franke to countless others, this workshop will explore the question: “What does it mean for children to be online and to lose their privacy— all without their consent?”.

Begining with introducing myself and the field of somatics, embodiment and consent education. Defining the terms somatic and nervous system regulation, I will offer a series of invitational activities to have an embodied experience of these terms. A body scan, to notice the sensations of the body and how those sensations are a language. Moving into interception, proprioception, exteroception and neuroception the next invitations will include exploring these states around the room. Moving into the somatic inquiry of what does a yes, no and maybe feel like? We’ll practice speaking these to each other and thanking each “no”.
