Young Men's Affinity Group
Saturday March 8, 2025 9:55am - 10:25am PST
This is a space for trans and cis men.

We meet in affinity groups to feel the  solidarity, soft space and rejuvenation that come from these groups. Affinity groups are open to individuals who identify as members of the group and can speak to the experience of being a member of the group from the "I" perspective. We acknowledge that we all  hold multiple and intersecting identities, and that you may need to make a choice to focus on one of your identities during this session. We invite you to bring your wholeness into whichever space you choose for this conversation.

Sexual Citizenship: why a 'yes means yes' approach isn't enough
Saturday March 8, 2025 1:10pm - 2:10pm PST
How consent is communicated (affirmative, verbal, nonverbal, contextual, implied, false, unsure).

This session will use information from the SHIFT study at Columbia University and its companion book, Sexual Citizens: A Landmark Study of Sex, Power, and Assault on Campus by Jennifer S. Hirsch and Shamus Khan as a foundation for a larger conversation. You will leave with a better understanding of the many ways humans communicate consent, the importance of sexual projects, and how sex ed can help prevent unintended assaults.

Engaging in Healthy Arguments
Saturday March 8, 2025 2:15pm - 3:15pm PST
This workshop will have a slide presentation and will use a New York Times article as an outline to talk about how to have a productive argument that doesn't leave you feeling upset and toxic. We will talk about common reactions to arguments and have examples. We will share tactics and phrases to promote healthy discourse that will improve relationships, instead of destroying them. We want to burn down the idea of me vs. you and instead promote us vs. the problem.
